Pulguinha’s Shop

29 Feb

Modern. Minimalistic. Experimental. That’s how Helena of Pulguinha’s shop describes her work, and i’m inclined to agree. A range of edgy, high-fashion, acrylic jewellery against a range of fabric and button floral pieces; it’s incredibly juxtaposed in terms of style, but I like it.

Love Acrylic Necklace

Acrylic jewellery has never been so in fashion as it is this season, but Helena’s designs stray away from convention, her more modern pieces remind me of modern-art sculptures at the Guggenheim in Italy. It’s no surprise she has so much originality, Helena has felt a pull to create since she was young, experimenting in any art form from knitting and embroidery to cooking and abstract sketching. When designers have creativity written in their blood, it’s no surprise they create such beautiful products.

Worm Handmade Acrylic Bracelet

Helena designs, saws, sands and polishes all her work by hand, which she creates in her garage at home, so you can be sure a lot of attention to detail and artistic passion has gone into every piece she creates, and for a handmade mini piece of art, the prices are incredible, ranging from around £10-£40 ($15-$60).

Euphorbia Pulcherrima Bracelet

Pulguinha’s Shop can be found on Etsy, so that means you can request custom items and possibly even get your own one off piece, unique to you. I recommend you style these pieces with a sleek LBD and a modern bun hairstyle for maximum impact, make the jewellery the center of attention.

Tatty Divine

29 Feb

With all the scandal surrounding the “Did Claire’s Accessories copy Tatty Devine?” stories lately, I was actually reminded how much I love Tatty Devine I forgot how cute and kitsch their designs are! Expensive, but you pay for higher quality. The new season brings in some beautiful clear daisy designs and a whole host of day of the dead sugar skulls. Perfect for adding some bright colour and for accessorizing your spring outfits. Check out some of my favourite choices;

Fashion Inspiration

23 Feb

Today’s fashion post is a mix between dark punk style and festival feathers.

Beading and black feather dream-catcher earrings look amazing when paired with a long line black vest, decayed denim shorts and plenty of smudged black liner. You can get these Desert Dreamer earrings at Urbanog.

Ripped denim says spring and summer perfectly, but to loose the bohemian vibe, add studs and black dye to stand out from the crowd. You can treat yourself to this pair at Etsy.

Don’t just accessorize yourself, accessorize your phone too. There are some amazing cases out there, but we love this dark, edgy black lace one from Zazzle.

Finally wear it all with some tough looking army boots and this dipped hem knit dress from Free People.

Orla Keily AW 2012

22 Feb

Orla Keily‘s Autumn Winter 2012 collection is one to be remembered, set at a 1920′s tea party with dancing and cake, as well as a brass band there was no doubt the brand hadn’t strayed from it’s british heritage routes. Sensible shoes were in order, worn with glittering ankle socks of course for a bit of night time glamour, and peter pan collars were the in neckline accessory…

I’m a big fan of tea time dresses personally, the subdued colours Keily uses really allows her to mix pops of glitter and print extremely effectively, and what I really love about her designs is that she has such a subtle way of making beautiful dresses; no striking, odd, “look-at-me” clothes from this designer, just simply beautiful designs that flatter.

These dresses are perfect especially when paired with a dark red lipstick.

The Winter 2011 collection that hit the runway at Milan Fashion Week in February was a hit with women of stature, sophistication, and class. The collection showcased practical everyday work-wear and casual wear inspired by the 1950s movie stars in Hollywood. The glam factor is alive in the clothes, with embellishments and accents that sparkle and shine. For the woman who likes to stand out from the everyday basics, the collection features a range of fashionable clothes tailored to the extravagant woman’s taste.

Dark gem tones give off a sexy attitude, but are kept sophisticated with the traditional silhouettes. The collection is both classic and chic, creating the image of a powerful and seductive woman without any physical over-exposure. Mirò remains conservative to the woman figure, but expresses the sex appeal factor through form-fitting silhouettes.

There are pieces in the collection that can be worn for any season. The collection includes many coats and jackets that are stylish and classic pieces, for example, with fur trim. Some of these items are timeless and can be kept in your closet for years and years and won’t ever go out of trend.

From fitted pants to silk dresses to sparkling high heels, the Winter 2011 collection has it all – everything you need in your everyday wardrobe. Terra New York – Waterproof and Stylish Coats

10 Feb

Waterproof and stylish? I don’t know about you, but I’ve always struggled to find a flattering and chic coat that will keep me warm and dry. trench coats lack hoods, macs are too thin for the cold and thicker coats don’t tend to be waterproof (when they invent waterproof faux fur I’m going to be delighted). There seems to always be a compromise no matter what you pick. However, Terra New York recently launched their range of TPU/ Urethane coats with heat-sealing seams. Urethane is usually used for industrial surface sealants, so as you can imagine it will keep you as dry as if you were indoors, but the coats also keep all the heat in, so you won’t have to worry about the glum UK weather again.

Fashion for the Young at Heart

9 Feb

Some days without a doubt all you want to do is act young and carefree. Luckily we can still do that however old we are through the way we dress. Ballerina skirts, bows, pastel pinks and white tights are an instant high fashion outfit when combined with killer studded heels, or leather army boots for a shocking contrast. Still there’s other ways to make this look work. Check out our suggestions from our findings-

Denim is a magical material because it stretches and moves with the shape of the body. Denim is form fitting, without being so tight and restricting. Jeans flatter every figure, and they work with every style. When you’re shopping for a curvy figure, jeans can flatter the natural curves of your hips, thighs, and bottom. Since jeans hug your curves, you may think that you’ll flaunt a lot of your flaws, but there is some kind of magic in denim that seems to only bring out the sexy in every figure.

With the many different jean styles, you’ll certainly find the one that works best for you. Jeans come in many cuts: bootcut, cropped, skinny fit, straight leg, flare leg, and more. You can also have different washes of jeans, for lighter coloured denim or darker coloured, and even white denim and black denim. Some jeans have designs and subtle prints, some jeans have rips and tears here and there; no matter what your style is, you can easily incorporate jeans into your wardobe.

When you’re trying on jeans for a curvy body, one thing to keep in mind is to pay attention to the pocket detail. The size, shape, and style of the pocket can really make a difference as to how your jeans will look from behind. You always want to flatter your body in the best possible way, so you have to consider every detail. Typically, darkwash jeans flatter your shape better than lighter jeans, and bootcut fits better than skinny jeans. But when you try on jeans, try to try-on several different styles so you can see for yourself what looks better on your figure.

Discover the many styles of NYDJ Jeans and find the one that looks the best on you. A good pair of jeans will last you a lifetime and they will go with almost everything in your wardrobe already. Don’t be too worried about buying a new pair of jeans; because they aren’t just any jeans, these are Not Your Daughter’s Jeans!
